When life is tough, feeling like a bomb just went off and blew another week of hopes and dreams into smithereens, our flesh does this every time… we shrink backwards and then diminish the name of Christ.
We try to rise up in our own false sense of strength to handle the devastation caused by crisis. The measure of Christ seems quite “small” within us. The flesh takes away God’s glory and profanes His name. So easily, by our reputation, position, influence, and the such, we start to judge the appalling state of affairs around us. And we then rely on our flesh, which seems bigger than Christ in us, to get us through another day.
Why do we do this?
“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow
weary. So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, and
especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10).
